West Ham United Women 0 - 2 Chelsea Women

We have been better since the transfer window. Skinner came in late and the squad was not great and there wasn't time for her to do anything. In January we got some older experienced players and have beaten Arsenal and yesterday Chelsea struggled, but a late second goal made it look comfortable. We should easily avoid relegation and should do better next year.

Re: West Ham United Football Club Women
I try and keep up with the results. I'm guessing not much is invested as it seems we struggle to keep the good players, other clubs are rapidly overtaking us and in the games I've seen highlights of it has been difficult to create or score goals.
As one of the clubs that has been around a while, it begs the question as to what the strategy is. Are we producing young players or just picking up random foreign players to plug holes in the team. Why is this side always losing more than it wins?

The "Read My Lips" Challenge the ladies have put out on YouTube wasn't what I was expecting.

Re: West Ham United Football Club Women
I'd guess womens football costs the club a couple of million a year to generate next to no income as we bump along at the bottom year after year.

Personally I'd put that money into our u18's and u21's
The u18's won 5-1 at Norwich this afternoon and are top of their league
The u21's made up of last seasons u18 Southern Premier league champions and FA Youth Cup winners are second

Re: West Ham United Football Club Women
I suspect a lot less than on the men. Wasn't it quite a few 10s of millions for the men last season? The numbers are of different magnitudes. Any idea what they pay for the women?

Re: West Ham United Football Club Women
Just twice like the Premier, but less games as fewer teams. All the fixtures are at the top. We're starting to look ok to avoid relegation.

Thanks Keep Dreaming and Scorchio bit of a slog this.
We've played well last 3 games since getting some experienced players in, our Japanese forward / midfield player Ueki, is in particular looking good. I think Skinner is finally getting somewhere. Have to say though, when I turned over from the West Ham women to the men on Sunday the difference in speed was astonishing.
Anyway, with those 2 wins we're moving up the table.

Just saw we beat Arsenal yesterday. That's a fantastic result given the gulf on paper between the sides. Well done the girls.
